SAT II's - Should I cancel?

<p>Hello,
I am currently a Junior who has been aspiring to go to MIT since the fourth grade. I took three SAT II/Subject tests today, and in the past I have taken two PSAT’s, one SAT I/Reasoning test, and one SAT II/Subject test in Biology M (I got a 740). All MIT requires is one math and one science for SAT II’s. Here is my dilemma:</p>

<li> I took the SAT II US History, Latin, and Math II tests today. I took the US History and Latin SAT II’s just in case I (very likely) didn’t do well on my AP US History and AP Latin exams. I think I did well on SAT US History, however, but poorly on SAT Latin and not fantastic on SAT Math II. The question here is, which of the following should I do?
A) Cancel all my scores from today and retake just the SAT II Math II since that’s the only one SAT actually requires.
B) Cancel all my scores from today, retake the SAT Math II, and retake the others depending on my AP scores.
C) Don’t cancel, see scores for AP and SAT II’s, and retake tests as necessary.
<strong>Remember, if I do cancel, I have to cancel ALL OR NOTHING. I can’t pick and choose which tests to send, nor can I cancel only a portion of the test I took today.</strong></li>
<li> Also, if you retake an SAT II, will colleges consider both scores, or will they only look at the higher of the two?</li>
<li> What effect do other SAT II scores have on your application? In addition to the ones I took today, I also have to take the Physics SAT II in the fall for another college I’m applying to. Also, I feel like taking the SAT World History Exam because I love world history and because I did well on an SAT World History exam I took for fun (but that’s probably not going to happen since it’s not required).</li>
<li> Do colleges look down on taking too many SAT II exams?</li>

<p>In regards to the Math II SAT II, I don’t think I did terribly, but considering I’m in an accelerated math program at my high school and scored an 800 in math on my SAT I, it might be a bit embarrassing if I did badly on it (I really hope I do not come off as cocky or arrogant or anything of the sort, I just really need answers).
Please leave any and all opinions, and as soon as possible, please, because I only have a limited number of days to cancel my scores if I choose to.</p>

<p>MIT only considers scores that present you in the best light – if you take multiple “extra” tests, they will consider the ones that fit their criteria which make you look the best.</p>

<p>If you retake a test, they will consider only the highest score.</p>

<p>Also, any score 750 or above is viewed with approximately the same level of impressed-ness.</p>

<p>Don’t worry about it too much. I was sick during my SAT II’s with stomach cramps and I had to leave halfway through history, and took Chem and Matt iic with a really bad pain in my gut (not to mention loud noises…). I thought I did terrible but managed a 2200 with those 3 (780 iic, 780 chem, 640 u.s. hist). I told MIT the situation and they said they would take it into consideration. I was admitted if that matters. Maybe because I didn’t obsess too much about SAT’s, grades, etc, which I conveyed well in my essays/interview.</p>

<p>How many SAT II’s is MIT requiring for class of 2007 (HS class that is) admissions? I have a 780 Math IIC and an 800 Phys. I have a 2130 SAT I right now, and I was going to retake in october after studying. Do I need another SAT II? If I want to apply EA, how can I get another SAT II in as well as another SAT I shot?</p>

<p>3 SAT II’s for my class as well? If I take the third one in november, won’t it be too late for MIT admissions? and even if I did take the third SAT II in november, what would I fill out on the application? Just leave one blank?</p>

<p>I honestly thought that I bombed the Math Level 2; I seriously thought of canceling. I got an 800.</p>

<p>No, MIT requirements for freshmen entering Fall 2007 and beyond are the SAT I with Writing (although I’m not sure if they’re actually going to use the writing portion yet) and two SAT II’s: one in math, one in science (Biology, Physics, or Chem).</p>

<p>Only two is correct: " In addition, we require two SAT Subject Tests: one in math (level 1 (Ic) or 2 (IIc)), and one in science (physics, chemistry, or biology e/m)."</p>

<p>As to when you have to finish testing: “Obviously, it’s vital that students take all tests on or before their testing deadline (November test date for Early Action and December test date for Regular Action).”</p>
