SAT is EVIL

who agrees?

yes. yes. yes. 10 chars

hell yes. It makes us pay money to actually torture ourselves for about 4 hours. And we get to retake. yay… so its twice/thrice/etc the fun

it is ABSOLUTELY horrible and it should not be used as a measure of a student’s success. I’am a great student I rank #5 in my class but i scored a 1490 on the PSAT. they should not look at it because a student might not be great with a stressull test such as the SAT

I think it should count more than your GPA. Anybody can study their asses off and do HW. Much harder to study for the SAT.

No, it is MUCH easier to study for the SAT than to “study their asses off and do HW” in a very rigorous, challenging curriculum

Heh, I disagree. For any class you know what material will be on the test. You have so little to study from. For the SAT the most you can really study is grammar or perhaps vocabulary.

More like whoever disagrees oughta get slapped.

No; It’s 50x easier to study for and improve your SAT score than it is to study for 6 APs and get 95’s.

well grades are very subjective and permanent, ie if somebody messes up one semester their gpa goes down alot (its hard to recover) and grade inflation tends to hurt those people struggling at harder schools or people who have bad teachers that can’t keep their grades straight…the sat is more honest in that regard because a question is either right or wrong… (except the essay but that isn’t that much anyway).
people with good gpas (hard workers) will always prefer gpa to sat and people with good sat scores (usually smart slackers) will always prefer sats to gpa

my sister, who’s a junior, is NOT DOING A THING about her SATs because she’s obsessed with her GPAs. ugh.

i just read the score delay thread. i have to go kill myself now.

I can agree to that.

Right on. The SAT is like a game. You just have to keep practicing to nail the target.

As compared to studying for APs which is just time management…

IF you even need to study.

AP’s are like any school tests:
Xerox machines will pass, SAT - is a measure of brains more than anythign else there. It is falwed, but better than

 1. Usign grades
 2. Only a test (like in India)

I think the SAT is a good way to test a student. It’s standardized, and it really tests a student’s knowledge. Everybody does the same test, hence standardized, and we all get scores which can relate. Whereas, different HS’s and schools may have different programs and classes. Therefore GPA doesn’t matter as much as the SAT. I agree it sucks, but it’s smart. =/ “To destroy the enemy, you have to acknowledge what a perfect engine it is” =.=

A thing can’t be evil. Now the College Board, they are evil!

Protege says: " It’s standardized, and it really tests a student’s knowledge. Everybody does the same test, hence standardized, and we all get scores which can relate."

Mind Numbing.

i wish they tested you on how long you could sleep or something like that. i would literally rock at that…

my record: 4:45 p.m.
when i finally woke up, i was like ‘hey mum, didn’t you say you were gonna go to church this morning?’ and she was like ‘yeah, we went, ate lunch, and came back two hours ago’

Yup, the SAT is a top-secret government conspiricy to keep peoples attention away from the real issues.
