<p>So, I only got this question wrong on my practice test and I feel like I’m missing something obvious…</p>

<p>Q: The total cost of 8 hats and 5 scarves is the same as the total cost of 5 hats and 7 scarves. The cost of each scarf is d times the cost of each hat. What is the value of d?</p>

<p>AP Calc and can’t figure it out… embarrassing.</p>

h= the cost of 1 hat
s= the cost of 1 scarf
s = d.h
8h + 5s = 5h + 7s
8h + 5dh = 5h + 7dh
8h - 5h = 7dh - 5dh
3h = 2dh
d = 3h/2h = 1.5</p>
