i’m a really strong math student, but on practice SAT math sections i consistently do bad. Can anyone help?
Thanks.
PS. I did really well on the PSAT math section, so how exactly are they different?

infact, they rn’t at all different! I myself don’t find A LOT of different. anyway, welcome to the CC! hope u’ll enjoy it here. what I suggest u is to look at the questions more carefully and use ‘logic’. it’s not necessary that u will get a really good score just becoz u r good at math. time, pressure—these do play a vital role, try to work w/ that too. And as always, there r a few strategies that u can use (don’t ask me what they r exactly, glance thru the known guide books)
hope that helps!

Doing well in math at school is actually pretty different than the SAT. The level of math that is recommended to know is around Algebra 2 or Intregrated level 3.
The SAT is basically determining your math ability, but the ability solve question rapidly with agility and also with accuracy. I think of it as a skill, and the math section is one of the sections like the writing sections in that as one does more practice problems, the sections in general become easier to solve because one would know the patterns.
So my advice to you is repetition. Practice problems repeatly again, and again until you get the jist what the problem is. But because you are a strong math student, it shouldn’t take you too much effort to figure out the problem anyways. You should focus on speed and accuracy.
