SAT May 2009 CR

WHAT WAS THE FLIPPANT QUESTION? i just had to put that in caps since this questino has been asked like 5 times an no one has answered

Flippant I think was about the last quote of the author, something like “I’m just crazy” when the reporter asked her why she still does it.

one of the questions in the chemistry passage was like:

Sanyo thinks that the dude had much more to learn about life

It was C or D.

This question was referring to all the nature stuff that the author wasn’t familiar with

wat was the answer to this question?

for the SANDRO one, I was debating between either “overly rigid in his views” or “does not know much of what really matters”

i put “does not know much of what really matters”

i dont remember putting flippant for “Im just crazy” does anyone remember the other answers that went along with it.

o thank you so much guys…

yes it was either

rigid in his views
or does not know much of what really matters.

I chose does not know much of what really matters

What was the one with “large and lumpy?” I stared at that question for, like, five minutes.

Anyone else feel that there was waaaay more vocab on this one? Not SC, but within questions about the long passages. Totally ridiculous.

For the contentious question, couldn’t it have been indulgent also.

This question was asking about the characterization of the weirdo archaeologist

It said she likes to ask embarrassing questions…it kind of sounded like she was Carefree. That is what indulgent means. so did anybody choose this.

In what way was she argumentative…contentious…quarrelsome? She was just trying to have fun.

It would be contentious because the question asked what her colleagues see her as, and she had just finished talking about how she often argues with them.

Yes but didn’t it ask what her colleagues thought of her? It would make sense for them to assume her questions were meant to start a fight
I dont really see indulgent as meaning carefree, either. The colleagues had a very cold response to her, so it would make sense that they had a very negative view of her

okay this is what i put…

What answers were eroded and defile for?

And what were some other options for the idealized question? I remember debating that with myself.

Reading this thread is so funny because it’s basically my interior monologue while taking the test. “Well, this could mean this, and because they said this, it implies this, but this other thing also makes sense…” This is why CR is so hard for me. I narrow it down to two and pick the wrong one, every time.

I’m just hoping for a 700 (and a generous curve!). My math and writing scores will be high enough for it to work out.

defile mite be the experimental cuz i had CR experimental
i dont recall other chocies for ideal but it was asking what the author’s view on chemistry was…

I know that, but I ended up changing my answer of idealized. I seem to remember eroded being BLATANTLY wrong, and never seeing defile.

I got eroded but i don’t know remember defiled at all.

I never saw defile but I DID chose erode thinking it was the ONLY possible answer.

wow looking at the compiled answers. I BOMBED the reading.

My reasoning for saying indulgent was that she did things that were outside of the boundaries of normal archaelogic research. OUTSIDE OF THE NORM! This means she indulged in the things that didn’t really matter, according to the other scientists. She was talking about they thought her work wasn’t relevant, so they obviously thought it was indulgent and she was indulgent. Does this make sense to anyone else? Could the people who thought it was contentious explain your rationale?
