SAT May 2012 Official Discussion

Gay Azn Panda,

I was stuck between youthful confusion and organizing argument… i picked youthful confusion though becuz i didn’t seem to find something like that in her questions…

Prob wrong tho cuz i spent like 3 minutes trying to figure it out…

ok good
yeah me too, but i’m think that section might be experimental
elaborate on the referee question?

i dont remember if i put lifelong questioning or youthful confusion . . . she did specify multiple times how she wasn’t sure why she was in the field of art history, lending credibility to the answer of “youthful confusion” since it was a question for herself . . . but “lifelong” makes it a bit odd

as for the astronauts on the moon, i don’t understand why people put laconic.

it was something along the lines of many astronaut explorations were anything but expansive, but on the contrary, many of the reports were _______"

laconic means “terse”, so it WOULD correspond with inexpansive missions since there’s nothing to talk about; on the other hand, “histrionic”, affected and fluffed up, would contradict the seemingly bland exploration

anyone agree?

@congster i’m pretty sure it was fortuitous/potion…but i could be wrong

on the side note, gay azn panda–you have an epic name sir.

I got idiosyncratic too… also was the second paragraph for the Trojan space passage trying to provide information about it mentioned in the first paragraph?

lol i picked lifelong questioning cuz her confusion wasn’t really lifelong? it was more during her youth than it was on that point b/c she changed at the end of the passage and stopped questioning herself

fortuitous means mental strength, so it doesn’t make sense. It’s final: serendipity/elixir

the passage said something like… a referee is needed to settle all disputes (the scientist passage) and the question was like… the use of the referee emphasizes the need for what? i put objectivity

haha thank you
i would like to remark that i am neither gay nor asian
however i am a panda

no it wasnt fortuitous it was fortitude i believe. and umm the referee i put the one with conflict…

@somebo123 Yeah hopefully perfect 1600 this time around. Just a little worried about some CR questions

@panda I put lifelong because there was nothing that indicated that her self-doubt was lifelong. You can’t assume that.

@keumyong1 I think it was closer to “Astronauts’ exploration reports were hardly expansive; on the contrary, many of them were laconic.”

Either way what type of scientific report is ever histrionic? That doesn’t fit

@u9u99u9 It was objectivity

yep i’m pretty sure it was objectivity
none of the others were close to being right

i dont think objectivity works because it was talking about how the scientists kept going until experiments settle the “conflicts” basically between them. did anyone put something else?

Did anyone get the one where it was like; ab=33 and bc=21, what is the value of abc??
I didnt even know where to start -__-

it was 7 x 3 x 11 = 231. thats what i got

you multiply the two and get ab^2 times c equals 693
do a prime factorization of 693 and the only primes you get are 3, 11, and 7 so a b and c have to be them

i put objectivity too.

wait guys… it didnt claim to need a referee… it compared the experiments to referees. The experiments served as the ultimate referee… that emphasizes objectivity how? i thought it emphasized the conflicts they had…

damn did i get that wrong… crap.
