Many of the misconceptions about Queen Victoria were created by those who ------- her most; in their efforts to ------- her as a model of all virtues, they lost sight of the real woman.

I picked challenged…delineate because of the word “misconceptions.” I guess I took the question in the opposite way. I don’t even get what this sentences means with the correct answer admired… depict. I suck at CR and writing…

this question is easy for as long as you pick the answer choices one by one :

A) is wrong - the ones who esteemed Queen Victoria would not descredit her image as the model of all virtues
B) is wrong - if you idolize sb you surely won’t disparage, deprecate him/her
C) is wrong - if they have challenged Queen Victoria how could they delineate her as a model of virtues
D) is the one that fits best - the ones that admired Queen Victoria depict ( describe ) her as a model of virtues
E) is wrong - if they have censured Queen Victoria they would make no efforts in representing her as the model of all virtues .

I hope i’ve been helpful. I’m not good in CR myself, but i’m studying so i can improve .

I’ve seen this question somewhere.(probably a QOD) It’s quite easy if you know how to attack it.

Read the sentence and just forget about the choices. Look for clues.
Here the most helpful clue is “model of all virtues”. So, model of all virtues… don’t you sense something positive? Well, if you don’t I can’t really help, but if you do(and I think you do), check the options for the second gap. The first two are negative, so cross them out, because you just can’t disparage/discredit her as a model of all virtues. She’d be flattered.

You’re now down to 3 choices. Time to get the second gap down.
Go back to the sentence and try to discover something about how the first gap fits in. The sentence is talking about misconceptions created by those who “did something” in their efforts to “do something positive(2nd gap)”. Now try until you get the most reasonable combination. Of course, those who challenged/censured her most weren’t trying to(“in their efforts”) think of her as a model of all virtues, were they?
