<p>A lot of people say that the SAT is a study-able test, and that it’s possible to get a near-perfect score by memorizing a list of words and taking a few practice tests. Others say it’s more of a sheer intelligence test. I thought it might be interesting to find out, plus provide resources for other students trying to figure out how best to prepare.</p>

<p>Overall TIME spent preparing for the SAT: i did about 4 practice tests, so that’s about 15 hours total, I guess

  • Would you say you prepared too much, the right amount, or too little?: right amount
    Did you go to TUTORING?: no
  • If so, did you use a private tutor?: —
  • Do you think it helped?: —
    Did you buy BOOK(S) to prepare?: yes
  • If so, which book was most useful?: CB’s blue book
  • Do you think it helped?: it was nice to know the number of sections, length of sections, etc so i guess so
    Did you take CB’s ONLINE COURSE?: no
  • If so, would you recommend it?: —

    How much MONEY in total did you spend (for tutoring, books, etc)?: $15? i can’t remember how much the book cost. (not counting the actual cost of the test)
  • If you had spent more money, do you believe your score would be higher?: no
    How many full PRACTICE TESTS did you take?: about 4
  • What were your scores on the practice test(s)?: they ranged from 1950-2310 ish
    Did you prepare in any OTHER WAYS?: got a good night’s sleep the night before…

<p>If you did not prepare at all, what do you believe your score would have been?: about the same… maybe 20-30 pts lower
What score(s) have you recieved on the actual SAT?: 2250 total (790 M 670 CR 790 W), took it Dec '06.</p>

<p>Do you have any ADVICE or COMMENTS about SAT prep?: I think it’s a waste of a lot of money and makes the test results inaccurate</p>
