Sat Prep

I am going to be a junior next year and was wondering if it would be worth it to take an SAT Prep Class. This will be my first time taking the SAT. I got 186 on the PSAT my sophmore year and something similar to this my freshman year.

Also, when I took the PSAT I didn’t bring a calcultor. I am not sure if it would have any affect on my score but it’s something to keep in mind.

Probably not. Have you bought a copy of the Blue Book? If not, you’ll definitely want to do so for the practice tests. Also, you might want to check out some of the advice that CC members have for SAT prep: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/68210-xiggis-sat-prep-advice.html.

Not bringing a calculator would definitely decrease your chances a LOT, imo, unless you are some sort of math genius and have a looot of experience with stuff like Mathcounts, AIME, AMC, etc etc. I’d guesstimate your score could go up 10-20 pts with a calculator.
When all’s said and done I dont think prep classes help very much. Put yourself on a disciplined schedule, go sit in the library for a couple hours each day, and do SAT books, which I guarantee your library has. I did that and my score went up 230 points.
