SAT Private Tutor?

My daughter’s been using a prep program since middle school and it’s been helpful so far, but now that we’re closer to the actual SAT, I’m wondering, should we keep going with it or mix in something more intensive like a bootcamp or private tutor?

Where is her score in relation to where she wants it? And what math is she in in high school? It might be time for her to just take the test and be done with the prep, and to then pivot her time to other pursuits. It’s easy, as parents, to zero in on the SAT score because it’s an objective number, but admissions officers note again and again that they treat them as a rough litmus — once a student is over a certain threshold, the committee doesn’t care what their score was. Your daughter might have a better return on investment by using that time to explore outside interests or to get a job.

At my company, we get 40 hours of free child care services. And tutoring is one of those options so we signed up our D26 for private SAT tutoring.

Just did the first session and they just had her answer the hard questions and if she missed them, they would explain why.

I thought SAT tutoring (for math at least) was about strategies and shortcuts but thats not what she’s getting so not sure how helpful it is.

Also, the tutor got a 1550. Is that even a good score for a SAT tutor? D24 got a higher score and I cant imagine her tutoring anyone for the SAT.

Is it worth it? It probably depends on the tutor you get.
