SAT Problems

This is a thread to vent your anger against the SAT and to show the problems and errors of the test.

One problem that I have been seeing on the SAT Writing Section is that sometimes grammar isn’t tested even though the directions tell you to pay attention to grammar in order to choose the correct answer. This can put a lot of students in a quandary when trying to winnow the correct answer from the distractors.

Can you give an example or two?

ILoveBrown, I did.
Summarized Post: The SAT doesn’t test grammar in the Writing Section.

ilovebrown meant post questions demonstrating your observation

and yes, i think that the test has many flaws. it’s too long…and the CR questions can be answered in many different ways which makes them even harder that they already are. The essay time is not enough and the topics are way too general. The Math is the only good thing in the test.

ILoveBrown, see this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=229238

I’m not sure how those questions aren’t tests of grammar…

They are so obscure and scrutinous. How many of you guys have ever seen the word “through” used as an adjective?

“Through stations” is an expression, meaning stations along the way. “Through” is technically used as an adjective, but if you don’t know the expression “through stations” then I guess that could be confusing.
