SAT Question Not Included for Scoring

Is it true that sometimes there’s a SAT question not included for scoring?

There is an entire experimental section that isn’t used for scoring if that is what you are referring to? It changes every date administered and there is usually a type for each section dispersed throughout the tests (some might get math, while others W or CR, but only one).

thank you, but i was talking about question that was supposed to be included for scoring, but due to some errors, it was not. Does that happen?

i doubt it does. but i guess that’s why one could ask to have his/her scores rechecked as long as you pay a certain fee i think

I think what you are talking about is something that happens but very rarely. When has happened in the past, it made the newspapers. I can’t remember a specific case in the last decade. So it is extremely unlikely that any particular item on a test you are taking is flawed. You should trust that the words mean exactly what they say.

Other than the experimental section, I don’t know of any lone question (outside of the experimental section) that’s specifically designed not to be scored. An SAT question outside of the experimental section not being included in scoring is probably because the ETS found faults in the question after it was administered. Naturally, to avoid lawsuits and whatnot, that rarely happens.

Actually, one of the reading questions on the SAT this January was not used for scoring, according to my QAS. This happens occasionally on some really controversial questions, where a legitimate argument can be made for more than one correct answer.

This type of thing is definitely not once-a-decade rare. January 2012 had a reading question taken off (as mentioned above), and on the May 2011 test, a math question had to be removed on some forms because of a printing problem. (The question appeared fine on other forms and was counted.)

But writing multiple-choice seems to be the worst offender: 10/2005, 5/2006, and 5/2011 all had questions removed.

Having taken the January 2012 test, I remember vividly that there was a CR section with only 23 questions early on. I only remember that because I thought I had not done well on that section and firmly believed that because there were only 23 questions it was the experimental one.

Does anyone know if 2011 June test had error such as printing problem on math question??
