SAT score : 1560

What I must do and what books I should finish in order to get strong 1560 points in my October SAT?
Thanks.
Suleyman.H.

P.S I have these books:
1)Blue Book
2)BARRON’S Math Workbook
3)Direct Hits 1 and 2.

Stop worrying about the books to acquire. You need to start working on the practice tests. In the beginning, practice without time limit. After a while, try to stay within the time limits but focus only on questions that you CAN answer.

Make sure you understand EVERY concept or word you encounter. Look up all the words that show up on the past tests, but unless you have unlimited time and dedication, do not focus on learning lists of words. If you do not understand what is asked, come and ask for clarifications and help in this forum.

Make sure you identify the difficultyof each question after finishing each practice test. Do NOT guess and do NOT try to answer the questions that are too hard. You can score a 1560 by omitting every hard question on the test – as long as you do not destroy your score by wild guessing.

PS I assume you meant 1560 out of 2400.

^Also read the explanations for questions (out of the BB) you get wrong.

Go look into the ACT while you are at it.

Learn a small set of words everyday (~10), and review them everyday for 20-30 min to help build a larger vocabulary.

Thanks guys.
But I think that if I learn remaining 270 words in Direct Hits, I will do CR well. Math is my ace.If I would be concentrated and positive I could get 600 points easily, in addition, I will study with my father and review all math in Math Workbook and Blue Book.
You guys suggest me doing Practice Tests, but how can I do CR if my last score was 270? I don’t know any word in SC. I want to finish D.H is few days and then I shall practice a lot.
1560 from 2400. yes.

What do U think?

Am I correct in assuming that your goal is to reach a score of 1560 in October and that you have taken the SAT before and received a much lower score, including a 270 on the CR section? If that is the case, are you a native English speaker? If you are an international student and English is not your native language you need to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). The CR section of the SAT is intended for students who are native English speakers or exceptionally proficient in English as a foreign language. Since the lowest possible score on the CR section is a 200 out of 800, a score of 270 would not be considered anywhere near acceptable by any American college. If you are an international student, rather than focusing on getting a total score of 1560 in October on the SAT you should work hard on improving your English language skills, take the TOEFL for submission to American colleges as evidence of sufficient competence in English to attend an American college and forget about trying to get a high CR score.

A score of 600 on the math section would be respectable but you would really need to score closer to 700 to be impressive as a science or engineering applicant. You should get a book of practice tests for the math section and take as many of them as you can to maximize your score. If you are an international applicant, if you can get an acceptable score on the TOEFL, a 650-700 on the Math SAT and apply as a science or engineering major your prospects would be a lot better of acceptance at an American college.

Thank you for advice.
I have already passed TOEFL (55 points from 120) but it was many months back. Now my TOEFL score is around 70-80 from 120. I’m using Direct Hits. Tommorow I shall finish first volume and then I’ll finish second in few days, I hope. Then I plan to buy BARRON’S Workbook for WR and CR and BARRON’S 2400. So, I plan to get strong 1560, but my father tells me if I would do this books my score will be much more better. I’m international student and my enviroment is Azerbaijan and Russian languages, so I don’t hear English speach.I could pass TOEFL now for 80+ , but it cost 160$ and now for me it’s better to buy additional books than this.

I don’t think you should read Direct Hits yet. It’s really for people who already can answer most sentence completion questions correctly and just want to get the hard questions right, and I think there are only 3 hard questions per section, maximum.

If you don’t hear English in your environment, watch some English-language YouTube videos and read a couple of newspaper articles everyday, like those of the New York Times. [The New York Times - Breaking News, World News & Multimedia](http://www.nytimes.com/) Reading articles definitely helps. I’m learning French, so I’ve been reading French newspaper articles, and I feel like my French has been improving significantly. Keep Google Translate open in another tab or window and use it to translate words you don’t know. http://translate.google.com/#

Well, I think I must learn 400 words from D.H because I want to answer S.C questions. Making CR section is my pleasure.I’m very happy when most of questions is correct. So, now I cannot watch youtube because it require high internet speed, it cost here so much. But good news is that I can make Math just about all questions.Last try today: 720
Now, I plan to learn vocabulary and do passages to make my CR strong 500 and WR 600(Essay I can make 11-12 if I would be concentrated and if topic is good for making points from history.)

P.S I know all history of Azerbaijan to 95 /100 (It’s our mark system, in US mark it’s equal to “A” grade)
