Do you trhink I should take my SAT again which I got a 1930 on? I honestly don’t want to but I feel like I wouldn’t have a chance to get into a school like Harvard. I know SAT isn’t everything but it still counts a lot. Do you guys know of any big name schools that would take a 1930?
Many schools would take a 1930. That said, what do you mean by “big name” school? Or are you referring to elite universities?
@boolaHI big name meaning well known around the nation, Ivy Leagues included but I know the Ivy’s usually take kids who score in the 2000 range

Most recent Common Data Set, section C. See how a 1930 stacks up.
What state are you from? While 1930 is a solid score it would not you place in serious consideration with any of what is known as the IVY-plus school (ivies plus, MIT, UofChicago, Stanford…) Even public Ivies (e.g. CAL, UofMichigan, UVA, etc) a 1930 would be a marginal score. However, as I previously mentioned, your score is competitive for many other schools. Do you have any hooks?
@bodangles thank you
@boolaHI Texas, and hooks meaning EC?
Hooks, as in recruited athlete, URM (underrepresented minority), exceptional family or life situation (e.g. surviving genocide in Angola), world class musician, known actor/actress…etc
What is your M+CR? That is more important. However, if your M+CR is below 1380, it’s unlikely you’d be admitted into a highly-selective school w/o a significant hook…athlete, etc.
What is your major and career goal? Only 1-2 careers almost expect a “Big Name” school for the best chances of success.
