SAT Score: Ivies?

SAT scores are out and I did way worse than I had anticipated (750 720 720) and many are telling me that my score is too low for any of the schools I like. I have already retaken it and do not have the time to retake it again. My dream school is Brown, where I have legacy status. However, I am Asian and I heard ORMS need much higher SAT scores. I have a 4.0 GPA, rank 2, great ECS. How badly will this hurt my application?

Hard to tell without knowing your ECs or reading your essay plus LORs. I would still apply. Just realize it is a crapshoot at best for anyone.

In the grand scheme of things that’s a terrific score BTW.

I don’t think you have to worry too much, those are great scores. Since you are a legacy you will get a tip factor and although I don’t think ED usually helps a lot I think it should for a Legacy, if you are prepared to ED.

Do you know that Brown Alumni Association offers free independent college advising to Alumni children? Not just for applying to Brown. They may have some info for you.

@NavalTradition @BrownParent thank you for your responses! I know the acceptance rate is so low for just about everyone but I feel more confident in applying now!

They’re all above 700. What’s the problem? The difference between a 720 and an 800 is statistical fuzziness anyways. There’s a reason they give you score ranges.

Those stats certainly are not bad, and most of all you are about equal in every category, which is arguably better than having an extra 40 points overall but a 700> in one part. Also, you have to remember that at the ivy leagues GPA>test scores. I think you stand a good chance, and a very good chance in early decision. Good luck!
