SAT Score Reporting

Ok, I’m set to take the SAT I in November and I put 4 schools (the free spots) that I would send the scores to.

Now, I’m a junior and I don’t know if I’ll end up doing good enough on this SAT. If I don’t do good, will it hurt my chances since the scores already have destinations or can I cancel the sending of scores? Is there any point to send scores right now, even though I have no idea if they’ll be good scores?

thanks >.<
ansar

you can change the schools online, up until a few days after the test… maybe you should remove them now so that no problems arise.

Well, I just want to know if it’ll hurt me if I don’t do so good on this SAT and the scores are sent?

Ansar: Have you practiced for the SAT at all? If you have NOT been getting good scores on practice tests, I would NOT take the SAT this November. You don’t want to use an official test as practice, since universities will eventually see your score when you request them to be sent later, regardless if you send the free official score reports now or not.

However, if you’ve been doing well on practice tests and want to take an official test at such an early date (normally you’d want to take it from March on in 11th grade), you can send the scores. When the admissions offices get it, but have not received an application for you, they’ll open a new file and deposit your scores then and wait for your application to get it. Keep in mind that they might dump that file at the end of this school year if they don’t get an application, so when you apply as a senior you’ll want to follow up to see if they have your scores on file.

Well, I got a 2050 (>_<) on the last practice test and I plan on taking more before November.

Oh, so eventually I’ll have to send them all?

And if I do send them later, I won’t have the four free score report option?

[Score Choice](Send SAT Scores to Colleges - SAT Suite | College Board)

I’m not sure about this, but the score reporting policy for juniors (class of '10) changes this year. I’m trying to figure out if it applies to all previously taken tests.

if this is the last SAT test u will take, sure send them in. If u will take a SAT next year along with SAT IIs, then don’t send them in; b/c u lucky juniors get to use score choice report.

As I understand it, starting next spring, the CollegeBoard is changing the rules and will not send all scores for all tests taken, only the ones you want sent. This will be more in line with the way that the ACT works. It benefits CollegeBoard because students will not be afraid to now take the test multiple times, in order to send in their best scores. This will benefit the HS class of 2010. More info can be found on CollegBoard’s website under the professionals section.

ansar - You do not need to use your 4 free reports now, delete the recipients now and you can go back in at any time to have the scores sent. It will tell you that you still have 4 free reports to use.
