SAT score vs. personal statement

Which is weightier when evaluated by college administrators?

My SAT score is average (680 M 700 CR 710 W) and I am planning to take the SAT again in October. Should I spend just as much time on the personal statement as I do for the SAT preparation?

Thanks

Hate to be obvious, but BOTH require appropriate time and attention. Your personal statement should be modified as much as possible to align with specific programs to which you are applying. A generic personal statement will not help you stand out. Great SAT scores will move you along in the process…but there are thousands of applicants with close to/perfect scores. Guess who makes a better impression - someone with solid scores and a standout statement of personal objective that matches the college ideals…or perfect SATs and a totally common personal statement ? Good Luck !
