SAT Score

Hello! I just finished my freshman year with top notch grades (97.4/100 GPA), I still have to take the SAT and I'm really worried that I'll do poorly.

With regards to retakes, if I get a low SAT score (Ex. 1600-1700), it will definitely not look wonderful on my transcript.

My question is if I get a low SAT score, I have great grades, and participate in a lot of extracurricular activities, will I get into the college of my choice? My choices are:

Duke University
Johns Hopkins University
Boston University
University of Pennsylvania

There are others...

I still have to take the SAT! Really worried!

Most people don't take the SAT until their junior year, so you have plenty of time. If you want to get a start now, though, you can always check out the stickied threads for general advice (the most important of which is that you should get the Official SAT Study Guide).

With 1600-1700 on the SAT, no. To be competitive at Duke, Penn, and Johns Hopkins, aim for at least 2100, preferably a fair bit higher.

Thank you so much silverturtle!!
