I retook the SAT this past month as a college student, and somehow I did worse on it than I did during high school. I’m worried that this will count against me as I apply to some fairly selective colleges for transfer.
Just to be clear, I was my class’ salutatorian and had a weighted GPA of around 4.8, so my past success on the test wasn’t a fluke.
Here are my SAT scores:
First time (taken junior year): 790 on Critical Reading, 630 on Mathematics, 800 on Writing
Second time (taken junior year): 740 on Critical Reading, 720 on Mathematics, 800 on Writing
Third time (taken as college freshman): 680 on Critical Reading, 730 on Mathematics, 800 on Writing
I’m concerned that when I apply to schools like the University of Pennsylvania, Duke University, Cornell University, Georgetown University, Vanderbilt University, and other schools of that caliber, my Critical Reading scores will hurt me. I’m doing well in college, and I was top of my class in high school. Should I be worried?
