SAT scores are a real b*tch

Just to think, one day out of one year and one test with only 3 parts is weighted so heavily over all my years of hard work, not getting any merit aid is the icing to the cake :(

You can still prove yourself as an undergrad and pick up scholarships along the way. I know of one person who started UMd with zero merit aid and had almost a full ride by the time she graduated.

If one takes the SAT on a bad day, and doesn’t do as well as expected, one can take it over. With “superscoring,” a student can even pick and choose the best scores of the three sub-tests taken over time.

There is no reason to allow one bad test on one bad day to ruin all one’s other hard work.

Conversely, if one is just a poor test-taker, then re-takes by themselves won’t help the situation. However, there are classes and resources that can help folks become better test takers and that will assist in having the test better measure their true academic potential.

I know what you mean but I’ve noticed there are employment opportunities at UMD that can eventually lead to a scholarship or aid if you do well in a position. I’m hoping to work at Stamp, Eppley, or one of the other rec centers. Unfortunately, those positions probably fill up fast
