SAT Scores for Different Majors

I have heard recently that colleges look at sat scores for various majors differently. For example, if UCLA’s average sat is 1450 then someone majoring in a competitive field like computer science might need a 1500 to be average while someone majoring in something less competitive like history might need a 1430 to be average. Is this true, and if so how competitive would a major like political science (my prospective major) lie?

It would be the case only for schools that admit you directly into a major like UIUC. However, different schools within the same college may have a different preference is section scores too, for instance, Math section score is more important for engineering.
