I am not at all familiar with the SAT, as ACT is the dominant test in my area. I am shooting for Ivies and got a 33 on my first ACT sitting. I sat for SAT without any prep and got a straight 2100. Is that good enough for ivies? 720 CR, 670 M, 710 W. I want to pursue journalism, political science and middle eastern studies. Applying to Yale, Harvard, ND, NW, Brown, Columbia, UVA, UC-B, UCLA, UMich (safety, in state)
What would be attainable scores based on this sitting? I am taking again in June.
Thanks
A 2100 sits somewhere in the middle 50% of applications to most Ivy League schools, but probably in the lower half. Harvard, for example, says that a 2100 is right at about the 25th percentile of their applicant pool. You’d want to really get another 100-150 points to get in the fat part of their applicant pool. A 33 on the ACT is probably a bit better than a 2100, as the ACT roughly equates that to a 2180 SAT. It’s really hard to say what improvement you are capable of; it all depends on how well prepared you were for the first sitting and how much prep you’re going to do for the next test.
thank you so much! I went in having absolutely no idea what I was doing for either. I am studying and taking classes and retaking both in June.
