So, My D sent her SAT score to the University, College board is showing sent on 10/28. I got an email from Admission officer that they still need SAT score. I did a duplicate express request paying extra money 10/29. But the Uni portal never updates, all other colleges I sent to updates within a day. the last date is 11/01. All the phone calls to university admission support center go on VMs
I think it is very normal for it to take a a number of days to show up as having been received in portals. And one school’s portal isn’t representative of anothers speed. Some schools say it takes 10 DAYS.
They probably do have it, though obviously I can’t guarantee it.
Sent does not mean received. And while the university may have received the transmission, it doesn’t mean they’ve processed it
Thanks for the reply, Any suggestion on how to deal with it ?
Nothing. It was sent the 28th. Today is the 30th. The student can check the portal on Monday
Don’t keep paying. It will likely show up. If not you can show prof you sent. They will fix.
I think for us it was UMD. Stuff got posted really late. It happens.
Schools may be understaffed vs the workload so a big rush takes time for them to synch up.
Too late. They paid a second time
Yeah, meant a third etc. I saw the second.
This is exactly the situation where doing nothing feels wrong and doing more can make it worse, so here is a tighter plan than just waiting for the portal.
First, do not send a third score report yet. You already have a regular send on 10/28 and a rush send on 10/29. A third send does not jump the queue, and it can create another file for the school to match.
Second, check the matching details in the College Board account before you call again. Confirm the school name and recipient code, the test date, and that the name and date of birth on the score report match the application exactly. A nickname, a missing middle name, or a different spelling is a common reason a score sits unmatched while everything else posts quickly.
Third, save proof today. Take a screenshot of the score send page showing the school, the sent dates, and any order or confirmation details. Do not post that screenshot here, since it can contain personal details. Keep it for admissions.
Fourth, send one short email today from the email address on the application, and copy the regional admissions contact if one is listed. Keep it to four facts: your daughter’s full legal name as on the application, her application ID if she has one, the school’s name, and the two send dates. Say the portal still shows the score as missing and ask them to confirm whether a score file has been received but not yet matched to her application. Attach the screenshot. That wording matters, because “did you get it” usually gets a generic answer, while “received but unmatched” points staff to the right queue.
Fifth, check two things inside the portal while you wait. One, look for a self-reported test score section. If this school allows self-reporting, enter the scores there today as a backup, even though the official report is already on its way. Two, check whether the missing item is listed as a test score or as a broader checklist item, because some portals keep a checklist open until the whole file is reviewed.
Sixth, submit the application itself by 11/01 even if the checklist still shows the score as missing. Many schools treat 11/01 as the application deadline and allow supporting documents to arrive and be processed after that date, but that is school specific, so check that school’s admissions page for its document deadline and do not assume it. If you cannot find it, put that exact question in the email: “Is the application still complete for review if the official score arrives after 11/01, given the 10/28 and 10/29 sends?”
On Monday, call early and use the same language. Ask for document processing, not the general front desk if you can get routed there, and ask how many business days they are currently taking to match score files received during the early deadline rush. If they say it is still unmatched, ask what identifier they need from you to find it, and send that by email right after the call so there is a written trail.
The voicemail problem is real at this time of year, which is why the email matters more than another phone attempt. One clear email with both send dates gives them something searchable. Another paid resend does not.
@User037216 very kind of you type the long details. Honestly I did all of what you suggested. At this point nothing left but to pray that it will fall in place. Based on feedback from you and our forum experts @tsbna44 @skieurope and @L_NewEngland, I can safely think that I am not doing anything wrong and leaving any stone unturned. If my D’s effort go waste, it is what it is
Have her call the school - if still open - or first thing Monday. They’ll likely tell you to give it a few days so they can catch up.
