I’m so bad at this kind of test.
Like horrific.
All together, I got a 1680…
510 on Math, 600 on CR, and 570 on Writing.
I got a 25 on ACT.
21 on Math and Science, 31 on Reading and 27 on English.

I have other strengths. (3 years of college courses. Been there since I was 15) recommendation from a professor at my college AND one from NYU.
My essay was about who influenced me the most, and I wrote about my best friend who passed away last year.
I don’t have MANY Ecs, but I have been working with developmentally disabled adults, and that’s in there.
I have a 3.5 GPA at my college, and 3.5 at home-subject as well. (I’m home-schooled)

I think I have an interesting story; I got Lyme disease in 8th grade. We didn’t find out for a few months because all my blood tests showed up negative. We only found out when I got Bell’s Palsy. My mom put all this in her counselor recommendation letter.

I applied to Tisch MT.
Throughout my singing audition, the guy was smiling. (I’ve heard they’re trained to be stone-faced, so I’m hoping this is a good sign.) He seemed very impressed with my range. I went up to a B Flat and he said “Oh! B flat!” like he was excited about it, and when I went down to a G he said “That’s not bad!”
The acting woman had a little smile on her face for my monologues too. The interview was short, which scared me a little.

But yeah.
With all of that, can you chance me? :/

For Tisch, the decision is based 50% on academics and 50% on talent. I think that if you do have serious talent, as it appears you do, you have a shot. The SAT scores will hurt you, but you can make up for it. A good GPA, rigorous curriculum, and great extracurriculars can really help. Typically, colleges look at SAT score about third on the list for admissions factors (class rigor and GPA are first and second). Is it possible for you to take the test in December?

Yes–too low for a non homeschooled person, so def too low for a home schooled person. unless you are amazingly talented at whatever your applying to tisch for.

It’s hard to tell at this point, but don’t worry about your SAT scores:

-your GPA, especially isn’t that bad considering you also took classes at a college
-your SAT/ACT scores aren’t great, but this is okay if the rest of your application looks good

I think that because you are applying to Tisch you do have a chance. You seem to have a lot of experience (hopefully you emphasized this in your application or at your audition)

I think the final factor that could determine your admission decision is your essay. If you made it really personal, where you were able to describe your life story, that could boost you in.

Don’t worry since you definitely have a shot. Tisch is about 50% academics and 50% talent. Stats aren’t everything there.

My essay was about my Bi-polar best friend who passed last year. It was all about how he’s influenced me and opened my eyes and made me more aware of the people around me and people with disabilities.
It sounds kind of lame, but the essay was good, I think.
I have had a lot of experience, yeah. It’s all on my resume, which they have.
I also had a graduate professor at Tisch write me a rec as well as one who works at the college I attend.

everyone wants to know their chances, but no one can tell you whether you’ll get in or not. (i want to know too! its awesome when someone tells you you’ll definitely get in somewhere! but no one knows for sure!) it doesn’t hurt to apply, so try your hardest on your application and who knows, in a few months, you might be nyu-bound! good luck!
