Sat Scores

Hi i am trying to apply to penn state for 2012 fall
I noticed that the average Sat scores were between 1750 to 1990 … But i was was wondering if different department had its own specific range of SAT scores…
So for example, buisness school has like
1900 or whatever and eberly school of science has 2000

I don’t think Penn State publishes the information that would let you determine the median SAT scores of the various schools like Smeal or Eberly. My impression, however, is that admission to the business and engineering programs are more competitive than other schools. I don’t know about Eberly. Also, Penn State heavily weights your GPA (its 2/3 of their formula for admission) so if you have a strong GPA that will make up for a lower SAT score. Good luck!

Thank u for the response!

Oh yeah and one more thing…
I have like a 1900 sat score and a 4.0 gpa
But my critical reading score is pretty low ( about 530) do they look at the overall composite score? or separately?
By the way im going for astronomy as my major

Its my understanding that Penn State only looks at the total score and not the subsections. Since your overall scores i 1900 you must have scored very well on the other sections (high 600s or low 700s). Good luck to you!

Thank u so much!! That helped me a lot!!

You will get in no doubt with your gpa and sat. send in that APP NOWWWWWWW.

PAMOM

trying to understand what PSU does on SATs. seems like they take the highest total from all of the test dates, not the highest M, R or W from different test dates.

In other words, they dont superscore SAT.

Is that right? Thanks

that’s right- they look at the highest total score from a single testing date, not superscore

Eberly’s average SAT score is 1950, so yes different schools within PSU have different ranges

mellen - where did u find this info?

My daughter was accepted into Eberly and her SATs were not in the 1950 range.

now im in a panic mode…

don’t freak out. if you applied early you should be fine

Yeah… I just found out that each department had different SAT scores…

Pennstate330- where did you get the info on the different SAT scores for the different departments?

[Admission Requirements — Eberly College of Science](http://science.psu.edu/bsmba/admissions-information)

check this website out… I dont know about the other departments
but eberly college of science wants at least 1950…

Pennstate330, that is the recomended requirements for a special combined undergraduate/graduate program in the Eberly College of Science.
