I’m really worried about my SAT scores. Math:670 CR:490 Writing:500. I just want to know if this will affect me when applying to engineering schools like carnegie, stanford, cornell, and john hopkins. Everything else is excellent except for that critical reading and writing score. I’m also hispanic, and I have only been here 5 years.

Honestly a 1660 is not a good score. Especially if you are applying to schools like john hopkins, cornell, and stanford (extremely selective). The fact that you have been here for only 5 years may favor you but I highly doubt it.
Dont worry just practice, practice, and practice your butt off. I would recommend getting the Official SAT study guide and the direct hits word lists for vocab. Prep books such as the Barron’s 2400 and princeton review are also valuable assets. If you can afford, I would also recommend taking an SAT prep course or hire a private tutor. Take as many practice tests as possible and read everything u can get ur hands on everyday such as newspapers, magazines, and pick up on new words. your math scores are a decent start, but a little brushing up would help.
Wish you all the best and good luck. You will definitely receive a great score if you work hard.
