SAT scoring much harder than ACT?

How can a 2400 SAT = 36 ACT when you’re allowed -10 questions on the ACT math to equal ~30 and -10 questions on the SAT math to equal <660 (which would be roughly a 30 ACT math score)? This isn’t true for only math it’s true for all the sections when comparing the SAT to the ACT. Is it just me or is the SAT MUCH harsher than the ACT?Can anyone explain the SAT scoring, am i just thinking wrong? Thanks.

SAT is MUCH harsher than the ACT
i have a friend who got a 33(=2190) on the ACT but only a 2020 on the ACT
plus on the ACT there are no vocabs, no negative scoring (the 1/4 thing) and the passages are more straight foreward

If that’s true why do some people actually do better on the SAT? If they’re testing basically the same things but one is easier, how could someone do better on the SAT?

i need time to think clearly. SAT provides that in ample amounts. ACT not so much

uh… the SAT and ACT are completely different. I don’t think you can really compare the 2 because they test totally different concepts. As far as the scoring goes, there’s less section on the ACT so that would explain why a -10 on one section can still give you a 30. As far as the concepts, the ACT tests more stuff that you already learned in school, just under EXTREME time constraints, while the SAT gives you some information and asks you to interpret that information in one way or another.

The ACT and SAT do not score equally and weight each section differently than the other.
The ACT however scores with more leaway (sp?) than the SAT does.
