Hi Guys,

Right now I’m getting around 2000 on diagnostic tests…

CR:660+
Writing:650+(because of the essay…)
Math:670+

Any reccomended study plans for about five-six months? I have to take the test in eighth grade for an academy I’m appying to(Illinois Math & Science Academy).

Thank You!!!

That is a reasonable reason to take the SAT in 8th grade and study for it. If you have studied the basics in the SAT blue book, just take practice tests. Get someone (adult, older student who did well) to help you understand why you miss the ones you do on the practice tests. Make flash cards, study them, and try again.

Wow! You’re doing so well for an about-to-be eighth grader! For the next few months, try to practice on a section every day with time constraints. Read sample essays and use the template on cc. This is basically how I got a 2390.
Good luck and congrats!

Do you plan on skipping 9th grade?

You have a much better chance iof admission as a 9th grader which will also give you more time to take the SAT.

How do you know your essay score if all you’ve taken is a diagnostic? Do not trust auto grading. I recommend PWN the SAT’s essay guide just to get an idea of what you need.

ETA: just realized that you may be looking to take test in 8th grade to keep it off your permanent record. Probably not a bad idea. Take it as late as possible though; you really have 10 months in this case.

Thanks to everyone that has replied, I’ll try all of this!!

@YZamyatin: I’m taking private tutoring from Growing Stars so my tutor grades my essays… But I think her grading is inflated, and not as low as a SAT grader would do it (I’ve gotten 5.5-6’s on three that I think were 4.5-5’s)
