SAT studying and extracurricular. how?

I am sophomore just got my PSAT score back. 171
my freshman year it was 186. so i did worse
i’m gonna study for SAT and hopefully take it this june.
my problem is i have so many extracurricular activities including 3 different sports at 3 different seasons.
also i’m part of student council part of a big project.
and doing volunteer work in some islands.
with all this plus school (including 1 AP class), i don’t seem to find time to study for the SAT and also spend some time with friends.
what do I do?
how did you guys study for the SAT?
should i just quit everything including friends?

No, don’t give up! I was in the same situation when I was studying. Lots of activities, volunteering, IB classes, friends–all of it. I’m willing to bet you are someone who does well with goals, deadlines, and multi-tasking. What you have to do is write down a strict plan of action and stick to it. If you have to stay home instead of going out some nights and if you have to ask for help with activities, make those choices. But if you give up on the things that make you happy, you’ll become too stressed to do well.

My advice would be to find at least one print source and some good online/ebook sources to give you a little variety. ebooks usually come with a lot of extras and interactive activities, while good old printed resources allow you to study anywhere without distraction.

For print, I like Princeton Review (though they can be pricey). For ebooks, I really like the products here, because they don’t have much fluff and really concentrate information.
Good luck!

Obviously, you shouldn’t quit everything. But you might want to consider quitting a few ECs if you find that you don’t have enough time to study for the SAT. Try taking a practice test and see how far short of your target you are.
