Hello CC,
So, I’m taking the SAT II on Saturday, and I was just checking the officially approved calculators for the test, but I noticed that the calculator (TI-30X IIS) that I use is not on the approved list.
However, when I visited the TI website, it states that the calculator is approved.
Should I use mine, or should I borrow another from a teacher or a friend? Has anyone else used this calculator at the test before??
Thank you so much for your help!!

Call the College Board and ask. They should give you a clear answer regarding if you can bring it or not.

Thank you for your answer, but I’ve just checked and the calling hours are closed for today. My SAT II is tomorrow morning, so I can’t call tomorrow…
I highly suggest you do not take the test with a TI-30X IIS.
Get yourself a TI-84! Many problems become much easier with a graphing calculator, especially if you know how to use it.
Are you sure you want to take it tomorrow?
Try to borrow one if you can. You definitely can use it on the SAT 2 because it is just a standard scientific calculator. However, you are allowed a graphing calculator and should try and use one.
Honestly, even though calling hours are over, I think you should be fine with a TI-30X IIS. Since there are no special functions on it you should be fine. It may be difficult to use, but I don’t think anyone will give you a hard time about it.
@Andeat
I’m currently saving up for a graphing calculator, but I’m probably not getting it this school year because I have Pre-Calculus. But I will be sure to get it next year because I’m taking AP Calculus AB.
And yes I’m sure, because if I don’t, its a wasted opportunity since I’m already studying for finals and AP exams, so mind as well. Besides SAT II Mathematics I is pretty easy for me.
@kimclan1
Thanks for your answer! I was worried that I would not have a calculator to use for the test.
I’m going to use my TI-30X IIS for this test because for one, its too late to borrow from my friends, and secondly, I don’t have the money to purchase a graphing calculator at the moment.
@cat136
Thank you for your answer!
Personally, I’m used to the TI-30X IIS because that sort of calculator is the only kind that is allowed in my school’s non-AP math classes. I was just worried that I wouldn’t be able to use it and would have to cancel the test.
