On the Stanford FAQ page, it says that “if you elect to take a math test, we do prefer to see the Math Level 2 test if you feel that your math background has adequately prepared you for this test.” I’ve taken math classes up to Algebra II/Trigonometry, and I am currently in AP Calc AB. The highest I got on a Barron’s practice test is 580 and the lowest is 510. I know that Barron’s test are much harder than the actual test, but I still probably won’t hit a 700 (<46 percentile) on the real thing. Would it hurt my chances to just take Level 1 instead and do much better?

I took the Level II during my sophomore year in June (I was taking Honors Precalculus) and I used the Baron’s book. I think my highest score on it was a 700 but my actual score was a 790. So if you think you can get to at least a 700 on the Baron’s, I would say just go for the Level II. Also, you should definitely review precalculus concepts, as there is little to no Calculus on the test. Good luck
