SAT subject tests general questions?

Hi I’m a junior in AP Chem, AP Bio, AP Eng Lang, AP Spanish Lang, and Precalc/Discrete. Next year I’m thinking about applying to schools like U of Illinois (Urbana/Champaign & Chicago), Loyola U in Chicago, Marquette, Purdue, and IIT. Do I need subject tests for those schools if I have taken the ACT? When should I take them (now, spring, after AP tests, or next year?) and which ones should I take? Thanks! :)

For IIT, the general ACT or SAT is all that is necessary. We do look at the subject tests if you send them to us but they are not required.

It is generally advised to take the subject tests at the end of the year in which you are studying the subject, so May or June of your Jr year. You can take up to three subject tests at one sitting (nominal incremental fee for each additional subject test—perhaps $12). You can register for the test date now and then change your subject selection when you arrive at the test center.

You can check on each university’s admission page to learn which schools require subject tests for admission.

Each school has different requirements. but they certainly will help tremendously if you know you can do good. even if you don’t you always have the option of ScoreChoice.
