SAT subject tests in one sitting

I have a question on sending SAT subject test scores. DD took two subject tests in June. She did really well on one and ok on another. She will be retaking the second one in October. Does she have to send all subject tests from the single sitting? Can she just send the good score and not the ok one?

No, she can pick which scores she wants to send from the sitting as long as the school she is applying to allows Score Choice.

And of course, if the school does not allow score choice, she will need to send them all.

Most schools let her choose! The only schools I can think of that require all are Georgetown and Stanford

She will not be applying to Georgetown, but will be applying to Stanford. Don’t they allow score choice for subject tests?

No, several top colleges don’t allow score choice. However, this is not something to fret upon, as they often only take the top score into account for the admission, but by seeing your background they gain more understanding about the applicant. For example, if a student started with a 550 on the chemistry test and then got an 800 when they took it a year later, it certainly shows improvement and diligence, as opposed to someone who goes from a 790 to an 800. I’ve even heard horror stories of admissions officers seeing a 10 point improvement or the like to get a perfect 800, and rejecting the applicants because they “clearly had nothing better to do on a Saturday.”

Actually here is from the Stanford website:

Recommended Testing
SAT Subject Tests are recommended but not required. Applicants who do not take SAT Subject Tests will not be at a disadvantage. Because SAT Subject Tests are optional, applicants may use Score Choice to selectively send their SAT Subject Test scores.

I didn’t know that! Okay that’s good so I guess she can just send the ones she did best on! Thanks for the info!

Yale does not allow score choice for subject tests but that’s the only school I know for sure with that policy.

Add Penn and Cornell.

Very helpful information. Thank you everyone. From the schools mentioned, she will only be applying to Yale with Stanford being her first choice.
