SAT subject tests & Month (Helpful tips needed please, thanks)

Hello guys, Im planning to register for my SAT subject tests in the Fall of October 2009 and they’re Biology M and US History.

My question is whether or not if it’s true cause some people told me that October SATs are usually more difficult than those of November and December. Can anyone get this straight for me? How difficult would the Biology and US History exams be if I just study from Barron’s red book and skim through Sparknotes?

Also, is the US History SAT curve suppose to be more lenient (+) than that of World History’s?

I do not believe that the SATs vary by difficulty; instead, the curve is different for each exam. I ignore the curve and take SATs and Subject Tests when I am ready. I think that October may have a different curve because Seniors who have taken multiple years of subjects are taking the Subject Tests right before they send in college applications, so it is a very smart sample of students taking the test at that time. If you are an underclassman, I would advise taking the exams in June, right after you finish a year of the subject. If you’ve already finished Biology and U.S. History, then take the exams ASAP.

I do not know about U.S. History, but you definitely should study much more for Biology. I took the exam myself and studied Princeton Review, SparkNotes book and flashcards, SparkNotes’ free online book, and my school textbook. Reading a book and skimming will only get you about a 690-720 unless you do some intense studying.

690-720 would be good enough for me.
I will be a senior next year applying to Boston College, but I registered for my BIO SAT in December cause I thought if I signed up for the October one instead, it will give you difficult questions that weren’t taught in the books, which I heard from other people. Would it be necessary for me to change the test date? I’m almost done with the Barrons red book for Bio. Just two more chapters to go.

And is it true that the US History is suppose to be harder than World History test or easier?
