SAT Subject Tests -- Need to take both left and right brain?

So I was looking at the UPENN admissions thread and noticed that many of the accepted students had taken SAT IIs in Math II, a science (Bio/Chem/Physics), and finally either APUSH or Lit. I also read somewhere that it is a good idea to take a “left brain” science/math subject test as well as a “right brain” english or history test. Is this true?

The reason I’m asking this is because I am a sophomore right now and plan on taking Math II this year. Next year, I am taking AP Bio, so I plan on taking that subject test, however I am not taking any other APs related to the subject tests. Should I try and revise my schedule to include another SAT II linked AP as I here 3 subject tests are recommended for going to an Ivy?

I was considering taking the Lit test as I am taking AP English Language and Composition at my school as a junior (AP English Lit isn’t offered until senior year). What are your thoughts on SAT Lit?

No this is not true, as plenty of people have got into Ivys with only “left brain” subject tests like Math II and Chemistry, or “right brain” subject tests such as Lit and US History. As for the number of subject tests you need, it varies from school to school, but 3 is a good number.
