SAT Test Anxiety

Anyone ever try a hypnosis session before the test to ease anxiety and instill confidence? Of course most of the test score will reflect good study habits, and having learned the material and doing practice tests. But I wonder if anyone has thought about hypnosis to get that little extra edge to boost a score from 590 to 620, or 680 to 710? Then again maybe a moderate amount of stress and adrenaline is something you want to have.

Interesting question. Perhaps someone with first hand experience can PM you.

As I am trying to help my son get through the anxiety of APs, SATs, finals etc – I was wondering about hypnosis for test anxiety and googled it. Sounds interesting – tapes to be listened to through headphones with background music. Not horrendously expensive. Any input as to whether it works or not?

You would use the tapes for 30 minutes or so at a time, but not during the test. It sounded as if you could use them even a few weeks before, and on a spordic basis and that the effects lasted for a few days.

Don’t know … but I am pretty tired of studying for APUSH … and my last history class was in 1975.
