SAT test prep? books?

I’m debating whether to take the June exam or wait until Novemeber, I’ve heard the one in June is easier, but I doubt it. I’m an international student and a current Junior, my teacher suggested to take it early and get it over with, but I feel like a month is not enough time to prepare? But I feel like waiting until November is stretching it too much.

I bought the official CollegeBoard book and the Barron’s one, I was also given the old SAT prep book by a friend. Is the old one still relevant and helpful? Specially the math section? If not, I’ll give it back and focus on the new ones I got.

Thank you so much!

Don’t assume that June is easier than November, because it might not be.

Also, I don’t think November of your senior year is really “stretching” it - many US universities allow you to take it in December or January. But if you have to take subject tests, you should take those into consideration.

You will probably be better off with materials for the revised SAT.

This is nonsense. There has never been any predictable patter for “easier” or “harder” tests, but more importantly, if the test is easier, the curve will be harsher, and if the curve is gentler, the test will be harsher. Come on now.

I did say I doubted it. My friends insisted on it, but I don’t really think it’s easier, honestly. Although, I feel like not a lot of people will be taking it in June since most people wait until the school year is over.

Oh and! The school year in my country starts on march and ends on december and I’m currently a junior so on November I’ll still be one! I’m thinking of applying to an ivy and I was wondering if taking the SAT twice(I plan to take it this year and then next year) will affect me? Does this look bad? Or is it encouraged?

Thank you very much!

My recommendation would be to take it both times. Take it once in June and see how you do! Use that test as a measurement to see which subjects you excel in and which ones you are a bit lacking in. Study harder in the areas you struggled in and then take it again in November – you’ll notice a big difference!

As for test prep and books, I think you have two of the best books out there. The book from CollegeBoard gives you a great indication for what types of questions will be on the test. The Barron’s I find is actually harder than the actual test itself; the book is good because it will over-prepare you for the test.

Good luck! You’ll do great.
