<p>Memorize the idioms, look out for parallel structures and improper use of modifiers, verb tense etc. Check out the sparknotes website on SAT tips, it is quite useful and has everything summarized. </p>

<p>Here’s what worked for my son in raising his scores significantly. Do some practice tests on an “open book” basis where your goal is to get the answers right even if you have to research the answers. This will give you an idea of how the tests work and the logic behind the structure of questions. But also do tests to test yourself under strict test conditions to get you in shape for the actual event.</p>
<p>I recommend the College Board Blue Book under the assumption that the tests are the read deal.</p>
