So I’m a junior now. I can get around 2200-2250 on practice tests. I would eventually love to get at least a 2300 on the real deal. What should I do to prepare? I feel like I’ve hit a wall because I’ve been in this score range for quite some time now…

Personally, I did way better on the real test than with the practice tests. Just make sure you know the vocab really well. If you always tend to do well on math, then that section shouldn’t be a problem at all. For the writing part make sure you know all the basic rules, because they always use the same grammar mistakes on each test. On reading comprehension, just remember not to overthink anything. You still have many many chances to take the test this year and next year, so just take the test and see how well you really do.

Those are great scores! What seemed to work for my child and several others: after studying and preparing on your own, take the test around March in your junior year. If you did not get the score you want, then if possilbe, invest in a few private tutor lessons and focus on the specific area you need to improve. Do this towards the end of the summer, early fall of senior year. Then take the SAT around October. Don’t do the group prep classes, not worth the money.
