Hey Guys.
I took the SAT in December and got a 690R, 800M, 760W, 12E. I have one bad score (reading) and in recent practice tests after studying it has gone down…
Do you think the ACT is a good idea, since it is 1/4 reading rather than 1/3 reading?
Please let me know!
Your SAT is actually quite good. Your “problem” area (in which you score well above average) is clear and isolated, so it’s easy to identify and work on it. I would stick with the SAT.
Yeah, you have a good SAT score. Which is your problem on CR vocab or passages?
Have you taken practice ACT test?
@Jr12317
I just took an ACT Practice test, and the same thing happened. I got 35E, 36M, 27R, 36S for a total of 34.
What should I do?
BTW, my SAT Subjects are fine. I have 800 Physics, 780 Math 2, and 780 US History.
@agupte Your SAT score sheet should have a breakdown of questions types you got wrong. Start there. Are you getting largely Sentence Completion questions wrong? Passed Based Reading questions? Both?
Once you figure that out, you can dig deeper. Do you understand the vocabulary in sentence completion? Are you whittling down to a few answer choices and guessing? Did you miss a contextual clue?
This is NOT an easy process. It’s difficult to find your own mistakes. As they say, the arrow can’t point to itself! Try asking a friend or a family member to listen to you as you decide between answers. This approach only works if they understand what should be the correct answer… If all else fails, get a tutor to listen to you verbally process and answer questions. If he’s good, he should recognize your impediment.
