Darling Son has taken the SAT twice. Last score was in May: 700 Verbal; 530 on math; 570 on the writing. The verbal had gone up significantly from the first time. Math and writing did not move much, despite significant self study on math and none on verbal. ACT, taken with almost no prep, was a composite of 28. English was 28, math was 26, reading 31, and science was 25. Combined English/writing was a 26. We are unsure which to retake. His school college advisor is advising us to retake ACT in the fall. We would love to be able to use the verbal SAT of 700. But since he has taken it twice and math is not showing growth, we are unsure. Also, a class is out of the question because of his work schedule for summer. We would be willing to get a tutor or more books. He is highly motivated to improve. Colleges list include George Washington, American, Northeastern, University of Delaware, Muhlenberg, Endicott, College of Charleston, and University of North Carolina. Weighted grades are in the 88-92 range from a competitive private school. Advice, please!

The act score would be a bit higher than the sat but similar. Take the ACT if the advisor thinks it would do him more good, especially with only one under his belt.
