Eh, I often confuse simple words with other similar looking/sounding words, such as:

intrepid - brave/fearless
insipid - boring

perpetuate - to prolong the existence of something
perpetrate - to do; to commit (negative connotation)

flagrant - shockingly obvious (negative connotation)
fragrant - smells good, or delightful

and I often forget some simple words, even though I see them frequently, like:

malleable - adaptable; able to be pounded
(I always think it’s something bad because of the mal- prefix)

humility - humbleness/modesty
(I’ve always thought it meant embarrassment because of the word ‘humiliate’)

collude - to plot secretly
(eh, it sounds like conclude)

feel free to add on; I’ll list some more as I remember more.
