Hey !
1.The underside of the starfish is covered with hundreds of tube feet, which it uses (to walk around, for attaching tightly to rocks, and holding) on to prey.
D. for walking around, attaching tightly to rocks and holding
Correct answer is D. Is’nt D should be ( to walk around, to attach tightly to rocks, and to hold ). Are not we supposed to use “use to, use to, and use to” ?
Im so confused
“Use for” is fine. The question is testing parallelism, and D satisfies that requirement. There definitely isn’t an answer choice that says “to walk, to attach, and to hold,” right? Remember, in many cases (not all!) -ing and infinitive are interchangeable.
This is a common parallelism error. Agree with Marvin.
