any tips on how to up ur Mult choice score on the SAT II writing any like analyzing tips… like what to remember when correcting sentences and what not…
any tips on the essay also?

and how bout MATH IIC ? i think that one will be pretty easy…

Writing: check out the Sparknotes online book and practice tests. They got me an 800.

Practice, practice, practice!

I paged through “Strunk and While: The Elements of Style” - amazing grammar book. Concise, very easy to follow, good to review common mistakes. Perfect for the writing.

Math IIC: Just lots of practice - buy a few prep books and take tests and pace yourself.

For the essay…Pick some topics that you know a lot about (from history, literature, or current events) and prepare a few strong sentences or even paragraphs that you can draw from and accomodate to the essay topic.

For the essay, get acquainted with the Elements of Style.

General writing tips:

 1. Be forceful
 2. Get to the point
 3. Be clear and do not try to use big words for the sake of using them
 4. End paragraphs with a bold statement
 5. Have a strong thesis

For Writing,

You might want to get familiar with common errors on the exam. You can find these error types in any prep books (barrons,Kaplan, etc). Like hp said, for the essay be forceful and have a clear thesis. This should be in the beginning of the paper. Do not try to sound complicated on the writing portion as it obscures your main point of the paper. Other than that perhaps have a few examples ready on test day. Good Luck!

Don’t freak out about the essay. Mine sucked and I think I used “fallacious” at least five times and I still got a 10. It was easier than I expected it to be. (I used Barron’s)

i got a 700 on the Writing SAT II, & almost a perfect score on the essay part of it (the essay counts for 40% of your score i believe). for the essay, i think it’s best to draw from your personal experience… that’s what got me my high score. even though you won’t know what the essay topic will be until the actual test, think of some experiences you had & then you can apply them to whatever the essay topic is. the essay topics are so broad that you won’t have much difficulty in applying any of your experiences. i.e., start thinking about a way in which your life changed, an event that has had a significant effect on you, etc.

for the multiple choice, the college board people just LOVE to trick you. go with your first instinct & don’t be fooled by those answers that “look right” but are distractors from the real answer.

sorry, i can’t help you with the Math. i did horrible on it.

good luck!

For IIC, your greatest enemy is Time.
