I’m a junior currently attending an early college in Texas. I’ve been taking community college courses since I was a freshman, and now all I have left to take to satisfy my pre-med prereqs are organic chemistry and anatomy/physiology, both of which I am registered for next fall.
Would med schools view this negatively? What about early assurance programs?
I’m no expert, but I’d assume medical schools would want you to take most (if not all) of your pre-med requirements at an accredited 4 year college. It’s not a race who gets into medical school first.
A&P is not a pre-req for pre-med. Are you sure you have the right requirements?
Speaking more generally, the above are correct. That being said, you could simply take more advanced courses (e.g. advanced bio courses that require the 1 year intro sequence you have done) in the same departments at your 4 year college. You know that all these courses show up on your med school application and are part of your GPA regardless of whether your 4 year college accepts the credits, right?
The above posters are right. Med schools want to see that you completed your prereqs at a 4 year school, not a community college. This way they can see that you received a quality education from an accredited, nationally recognized university/college.
