SATs again later in senior year?

Is there any point in taking the SATs later in the senior year, after your applications are in, in the hopes of having a better score for when scholarships are considered? Say your numbers in September are good enough to get in, but after taking yet another class, you'd expect your numbers to be better by Jan or Feb or so. If you sent in new improved scores, would admissions give them a look since they were past the deadline? I have heard that admissions do want updates on other "good news stories" after application deadlines.
