SATs are..

Better than ACTs… and everyone knows it.

Nah…

tenchars

the most tortuous part of first semester. Every SAT that was offered fall 2011, I took. Only went up 30 points overall. But I’m doing pretty well for myself college-wise if I do say so myself. :)

meh. ACT is a lot easier in my opinion

I kinda had fun taking them. It was like taking a trivia quiz. I didn’t prep at all though, which I figure would take the fun out of it and make it stressful.

Fun  The actual test that is, not the wait for the results. Like another poster said, a bit like a trivia game.

The two posters above me are clearly not of the same species as the rest of us.

trivia game. Fools! Your future is on the line here not a couple thousand dollars. And if it was truly like a trivia game then so are everything else that have multiple choice.

A requirement for the colleges I’m looking at. Even worse, they have SAT tests for subject areas like math and biology, which are infamously known as SAT Subject tests.

The only fun part of the SAT was the Math section because it was so easy.

Well… Until you realize that you got 1 question wrong and dramatically decrease your SAT score ^

^^ Yea it pretty easy to make a mistake in math section especially if it’s easy.

How does one mistake dramatically decrease the score? I got one wrong and scored a 790.

^^Because you actually loses a point for wrong answer. Can’t you see that sarcasm…

I wouldn’t say “drastically” but 1 wrong on the math can cost you up to 40 points, however that is rare and it’s usually 20-30 points.

It kinda is.
Look at the difference of 4 points: 210 AND 214
The first one, I’m NOT a semifinalist of my state and the second one I’ve got the bragging rights

Well I know I’m talking about the PSAT, but they have similar formats

Oh, I got a 178 on my PSATs, beyond the point of hope. Still managed a 2220 SAT score, so whatever. I’m proof that PSATs are not good indicators of how well you’ll score on the SATs.

I salute you, poster #37!

I found math to be very, very difficult (my score was only a 560) and reading to be quite easy (I received a 750), but I suppose my skill sets are just in a different area.

@Samonuh: Congratz! That SAT score is AMAZING! And I second poster #38!
