SATs for DUke

I thought UPENN was my first choice but lately i have become very intered in Duke. However- i read online that their middlee 50% SAT range started at something aboue 1400 and went to some like a 1520?? Is that Higher than Penn’s? they break thiers up by subject on the ZSAT and then percent of students admitted within each 50 point range. Also i hope to get my math score up but right now i have 650-math, 730-verbal, and a 740- writing. I can’t apply to tuns of reaches so should i pay the 70 dollar!!! (thats high!) application fee or try my luck at Penn and Emory and UF?

Well at Penn the SAT score varies alot by which college you apply to.

Duke’s middle 50% are like 1330 - 1540. But different sources say different things about that. I’m not sure what Penns are. If you apply to Penn College you have a much better chance than Wharton, and same with Engineering versus College. You should probably raise your math a bit.

so with my 2120 or 1380 or 1400 depending on how you look at it… i should atleast be competitive at Duke? (Also, im apply to the college of art and sciences at both.)

next year’s Duke admissions round will be even more selective than this year’s, so it will probably be to your advantage to get your scores as high as they can get.

For the Class of 2008, the range was 1390-1530, I believe the lower range 1330-1520 is from US News which reports scores that were the year b4 so Class of 2007. Honestly, these are just ballpark estimates of where you should be, ur scores look fine, I’m sure they’re not gonna accept/reject you b/c ur score was 650 and not 690. Once ur in their range, they will look at the other, albeit more interesting parts of your application, such as your essays, EC’s, etc. - the stuff that says a whole lot more about who you are than scores from a 3-4 hr. test.

Duke and UPenn are extremely comparable admissions-wise (Arts & Science), so if you think you have a good shot at Penn, you probably have a good shot at Duke.

Penn Engineering is a lot easier to get into than Duke engineering though

Wharton is harder to get into than Duke Trinity

The Arts and Sciences are really similar though
