SATs Too Boring For Me to Concentrate?

Hey guys, I pretty much have all the SAT books that are listed on this site, all the resources I could need. Like everyone who takes the SAT, I want to score high, around a 2100-2200. On the PSAT this October, without really any studying, I scored a 176 (63 CR, 54 M, 59 W). (You guys think I can jump from a 1760 to a ~2100?)

My problem I have now is that I simply can’t concentrate on my SAT practice stuff. It’s honestly the most inane and boring thing I can do. Every time I start a practice section, I end up on Facebook or reading a magazine or book or something.

Any advice? Anyone else in my shoes? Unlike a strong majority of CCers, math is probably my host hated section, and is just as boring as the CR/W.

So you stop midway through a SAT section to go on Facebook…? o.0

^ Uhmm yes? That happened to a lot.

HONORLIONS, all I can say is: Suck it up and concentrate if you wanna jump that high, althought PSAT doesn’t really predict your SAT score.

Yeah, I’ve been attempting to do this, but there’s no point in studying if I’m just forcing myself to do an endless number of problems. The whole SAT ‘theme’ just isn’t ‘sinking in’.

I read somewhere that SAT classes/tutors simply provide a ‘coach’ to drill you and push you on while you pretty much are just doing Xiggi… I just don’t want the inconvenience and price of a SAT class.

try to do the SAT in a place without any distractions.

There’s no secret to increasing your focus. Trust me, after grinding through stacks of SAT practice tests, focus becomes a habit.

How do you do your homework then? Do you stop mid-way to update your facebook status?

I recommend doing a section and then stopping to review answers. This is how I am focusing. lol not much to say since I’m running in to the same problems as you. probably worse, since it’s 2:30 and I haven’t started studying.
