Saturday Night Live episodes from 1975-1980 .

Too hot in the hot tub!

I have to admit one of my favorite skits involving a rock band, is from just a few years ago.
Although it may seem much older than that.

One with Kerry Washington. ( which imo, is much better than the original)

Chevy Chase as President Ford: “Relevent? Irrelevent? Fault? Default? These are just hard words.”

I was at boarding school during those years. Friday and Saturday nights we were supposed to be in our rooms after 11pm. But my dorm dean let us pack into the common room to watch SNL on a 13in TV. It was the only exception. That’s how cool it was.

The trick was to get really stoned before the show. The way we laughed, it’s a surprise no one caught on.

That Kerry Washington video is hilarious. Also like this one:

Mr. Robinson’s neighborhood…
“Here’s how we answer the door in my neighborhood children. WHO IS IT?”
“Oh, it’s Mr. Landlord with an eviction notice!”

What’s all this talk about saving Soviet Jewelry?
Oh, that’s quite different. Never mind.

I feel sad that my kids don’t really know about The Coneheads (although I have some great photos of my friends and I dressed as them one year!). And we do use the phrase “parental units” in our house sometimes.

I didn’t start watching it regularly till 1976 when I met my H & we started staying in on Saturday nights ( or at least coming back early)

There is even a “Red Carpet” show before the 40th anniversary episode! That should be all sorts of good viewing!

Thanks so much for that link to the Rolling Stone article. I loved reading about all of them…really reminds you just how many GREATS there were who passed thru SNL.

Land shark.
I loved Garret Morris.

Garrett Morris is 78?
I don’t think it could have been that long.

Watching this first episode has been great fun. Faves of mine are Landshark, Coneheads, Lisa Lubener and Roseanne Rosanna Danna. No Coke! Pepsi! Wild and crazy guys…

Yes, I totally forgot about Andy Kaufman too.
